Configuring Order Cut-Off Times

How cut-off times work for Same Day and 3 Hour Delivery, and how to configure them

View as Markdown

Cut-off times determine the latest point at which an order can be booked for a given delivery service on the same day. Setting these correctly ensures customers get an accurate delivery promise, and that orders placed too late are automatically deferred to the next available window rather than failing.

Same Day Delivery Cut-Off

Same Day Delivery has a hard cut-off of 12pm.

Orders must be booked by 12pm for same-day collection and delivery. If an order is booked after 12pm, it will automatically be forwarded to the next available delivery time (typically the next day), rather than being fulfilled same-day.

Because this cut-off is fixed, make sure this is clearly communicated to customers at checkout — see Customer-Facing FAQ Templates for sample wording.

3 Hour Delivery Cut-Off

Unlike Same Day Delivery, the 3 Hour Delivery cut-off is configurable per location and should be based on your store’s operating hours.

We recommend setting your 3 Hour Delivery cut-off at least 2 hours before your store’s closing time (up to 3 hours where possible). This gives enough buffer for the order to be picked, packed, and collected by a driver within the 3 hour delivery window before the store closes.

Your store’s opening, pickup, and closing hours are configured on the Managing Locations page. Review your Pickup Hours there to confirm your 3 Hour Delivery cut-off leaves enough time for collection before close.
